Celebration on the Hill AND at Home

Celebration on the Hill 2006 Has Arrived!!

Remember, Hope, Take Action & Celebrate at Home

On September 19 & 20, 2006 10,000 American Cancer Society volunteers and supporters will gather on the National Mall in front of the United States Capitol for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network’s historic Celebration on the Hill.

4,000 Celebration Ambassadors will represent every state and every congressional district in the country; 5,000 American Cancer Society Wall of Hope banners will represent every Relay For Life event in the nation; and the 3 million signatures on those banners will represent every American ever touched by cancer.

If you are among the 3 million Americans who signed a Wall of Hope banner you’re already a part of Celebration on the Hill. But if you want to do more and speak to national leaders about the importance of winning the war on cancer, there are other way you and your community Celebrate and take action at home. Invite others to join you!

The American Cancer Society's Cancer Action Network is hosting Celebration on the Hill as a national event for cancer survivors and those touched by cancer to remember those lost to cancer, hope for a cure, take action to encourage Congress to renew our national war on cancer and to celebrate those who have survived.

Celebration at Home.  From lighting your own candle for hope  to participating in Celebration on the Web, there is a lot you can do let people know that you care about cancer and remember its impact on you and the ones you love.  Click Celebration on the Homefront for information and resources to help you Celebrate and participate at home.

National Day of Action.  While Cancer Action Network Ambassadors are taking the fight against cancer to your elected representatives in Washington D.C., you can make sure that they know at home that there are many many more of their constituents that care about cancer.  Visit the Cancer Action Network's Web site to learn about the network's National Day of Action on September 20th.

Cancer is a disease that touches each and every American. By remembering, honoring, taking action and celebrating our friends and family who have, are or will fight the disease, Celebration on the Hill will touch each and every American and be a historic marker in our nation’s war on cancer.
