WELCOME ILLINOIS AMBASSADORS
Welcome to the Illinois CelebrationSpace! On Sept. 19-20, 2006, nearly 4,000 American Cancer Society Celebration Ambassadors, including 152 from Illinois, will gather in Washington, D.C. for Celebration on the Hill 2006. This unique event will demonstrate to lawmakers how the American Cancer Society is fighting cancer in communities nationwide.
In conjunction with Celebrate Celebration, this site will update you on all Celebration news and provide an online forum to connect with other ambassadors. Check back regularly for news and updates.
Celebration on the Hill Registration
The Celebration registration site is live. You should have received an invitation with a username and password. Once you receive your invitation:

Log on to www.celebrationonthehill.org and click the registration button on the left-hand side. Make sure to select the registration button for ambassadors.

Applicants will have the opportunity to search for and book flights, register guests who will be sharing your hotel room and register for events in D.C. Some are optional, so be sure to read the instructions carefully.

Registration Tips
Before beginning the registration process, it will be helpful to have the following details in hand:
NOTE: If your roommate is not an ambassador (i.e. a family member, friend, caregiver), there will be additional fees for your guests.
*A credit card is necessary for ambassadors to purchase ACSCAN tickets and for non-ambassadors to purchase air transportation, event registration and ACSCAN tickets. Hotel fees will be paid at a later date.

Frequently Asked Questions about Celebration on the Hill
Below you will find common questions that many ambassadors have asked and their answers. This portion of the site will continually be updated as more questions arise.
Question: Someone is coming with me, how do I register them so they can attend the event and share my room?
Answer: You can register them at the same time you are registering at www.celebrationonthehill.org. Event registration for all non-ambassador attendees is $100 and includes lunch and dinner on Sept. 20, a t-shirt, event credentials and one luminaria. Metro passes are available for $20 and can be purchased when you register online.
Question: If I drive, how much money can I be reimbursed?
Answer: Up to $375/ambassador
Question: If I want to extend my stay, will I be able to contact the hotel and stay there on my own dime?
Answer: The Illinois Division will pay for the nights of Sept. 19 and 20. If you wish to stay additional nights, please indicate that when you make your hotel arrangements at the registration site. You will need to provide a credit card to pay for the additional nights.
Question: What does the $100 registration include?
Answer: Event registration for all non-ambassador attendees is $100 and includes lunch and dinner on Sept. 20, a t-shirt, event credentials and one luminaria. Metro passes are available for $20 and can be purchased when you register online.
Question: What day and time do we have to be in Washington, D.C.?
Answer: There will be an optional lunch for ambassadors at the hotel from 1 - 2 p.m. EST Tuesday, Sept. 19. There will be a meeting for ALL ambassadors at 2 p.m. EST following the lunch. If your flight arrives at noon EST or later, please go to the hotel BEFORE registering at the convention center.
Question: What if I have questions when I arrive at the hotel or after I register?
Answer: There will be an Illinois suite at the hotel and at the convention center to answer any Illinois-specific questions you may have. Ask about the location of the suite when you check in at the registration desk.
